...So now I find out that I'm subjected to diabetes type 1. My glucose level is at 75 and should be between 60-70.
Although I suspected this would happen at some point because my pancreas is now 1/10th of what it used to be, It is not appreciated. I will have to change my diet altogether and use the needles and prick my finger after every meals. Darn I'm going to be full of holes by the time this is all over. Next week, I'm going to see a specialist for further testing to positively identify presence of diabetes and I will be referred to a nutritionist to help my diet.
So I got the call and I'm booked for the Port installation on February 12th, 2008. Small day-op for half a day. The beauty of this is that now they will use that Port for the Chemo and blood work. This should work fine for me because I'm always about time management and this will also accelerate the process of the Chemo treatments (Gem Chemo if you needed to know).
I have started to see a doctor to help me deal with all that is happening. I guess I do have issues after all. I tend to explain in details to others about my situation and I seem to forget to convince myself of what is happening - Could it be that I'm some sort of denial?
Last Monday, they did the CA19-9 marker (I had to pay $55.00 - no thanks to the CDN govt) and on Friday they did my CT scan. With that done, now it will be better to identify if there is any return of the cancer or any new growth in my body relating to the Pancreatic Cancer.
My smoking habits took quite a hike (almost 2 packs a day) and I was refered a new drug called Champix that seems to be very effective from what they say. I started this morning and this should kick in full speed in about a week's time. (I hope this time it works...I've tried almost everything)
